One thing we find particularly important, not only for getting great sleep but also for feeling vibrant and healthy, especially when we find our lifestyle has us sitting for long periods of time, is to make sure to move every, and I do mean every, cell in our body every couple of hours or so.
This month I’m going to share with you three simple and very quick exercises Jurgen and I did while traveling throughout Europe over the past 3 weeks in order to keep our health in top form.
In fact, during our long flights we would even sneak into the lavatory for some privacy to do the first exercise I’ll be showing you (no, we aren’t members of the “Mile-High Club” – these are all clean moves, just not necessarily ones you’d want to do in front of strangers).
Why do I believe it’s a must for you to know – and DO – these quick and easy exercises in your everyday life as well? Because, even if you aren’t sitting on a plane and bus for several hours like we were, you’re likely sitting at a desk working on a computer for hours on end and it may very well be costing you your optimum level of health.
Today’s sedentary lifestyle makes it very hard for your lymphatic system to do its job effectively, never mind optimally. Your lymphatic system has perhaps the most important job when it comes to keeping you healthy – it’s responsible for taking out the trash! Just imagine the mess you’d have on your hands if you never took the garbage out around your house, it wouldn’t take very long for things to get pretty disgusting. You want to get the trash out of your cells before it starts stink’n up the joint and causing a rather deadly situation.
Since the lymphatic system doesn’t have it’s own pump it relies upon your body’s movement in order to do it’s job effectively. However, our sedentary lifestyles of sitting at our computers, or at a desk job, or kicking up our feet for hours on end watching television, is leading to a serious decline in our level of health nowadays.
Add to that, diets filled with processed, chemically laden foods and drinking water, plus poor air quality and it’s truly a wonder we’re not in worse health than we are! Although, just because we’re not visibly sick doesn’t necessarily mean we’re optimally healthy either – that’s why it’s best to do what you can to keep your internal garbage collector happy.
We made sure to take at least 5 minutes a few times a day doing the simple moves I’ll show you on the video “3 Quick Moves to Spring Clean your Lymph System,” demonstrating how easy it can be to move every cell in your body, giving your lymph system a leg up on doing its job more effectively thereby helping to ramp up your health and vitality!
